A few hotels in Javea, by the beginning of August

Question from a French reader:

I am looking for a hotel in Javea or nearby to stay in the night from August 1st till 2nd. To avoid traffic jams, we will be there on Friday, but our rental starts on Saturday. Please give us a hotel list, possibly not too expensive. Many thanks.

During this season, the hotels, above all the "not too expensive", are accepting customers for complete weeks, and I would be amazed that you find for one night only. However, you may hope... so there it is:

JAVEA PORT: Hotel MIRAMAR, plaza Almirante Bastarreche 12, phone 0034 96 579 01 00. Budget around 50 - 60 euros per night for a double bedroom. This is where I am staying when I happen to be around, but of course, since I go alone, and during the low season, I pay less, and this also is why I do not know the exact price. Try to get a room with sea view; the others are oriented toward a rather busy (and noisy) place, whereas the ones with sea view let you sleep with the sound of the waves.

JAVEA PORT: Apart-hotel PORT XABIA (pronounce "SAVIA"), avda. de Lepanto (absolutely down the avenue coming from the village, the last exit on your right hand before the road is reaching the coast line) phone 0034 96 579 27 64. Similar prices, maybe even a bit cheaper. This is where I am going when the MIRAMAR is full. They really have a lot of rooms, perhaps they still have something left by the very beginning of August.

JAVEA between PORT and ARENAL: Hotel SOLYMAR (on the coast road betwen the port and the Arenal). Phone: 0034 96 646 19 19. OK, nothing more, but the price, more expensive than the ones mentioned before: 90 euros for a double bedroom; but when I came in by the end of last July 2002, they obviously had a serious quality: they were the only ones to have some room left when I phoned them in order to book, a few days before.

JAVEA ARENAL: Hotel VILLA NARANJOS, facing (across the street) the Parador Nacional. Phone: 0034 96 579 00 50. I never stayed there, but I once visited, and it looked OK. Prices comparable to those of the first two hotels.

A smart hint, if you really find nothing: Pension ARCO-IRIS, in Benitachell, avda. de Lepanto 20; it is the street crossing the village when you come from Javea, past the first traffic light, but before the ones allowing you to turn left downward Moraira. Clean rooms with own shower, bargain prices (if the owner has not changed). Phone: 0034 96 649 33 02. Should you really be looking for something cheap, you should start there.
